Elephant kills two men in Gbapolu County, Liberia

Elephant has gone on the rampage in the western Liberian County of Gbapolu, killing two men in its path.

The incident happened recently in  Zuo, Barma District, where the angry elephant killed two men on a farm.

According to the report, a man identified as Wesely David believed to be his early 50s went to hunt last and met the elephant which he shot at but did not kill it.

The wounded elephant then ran after David and killed him immediately.

No knowing that the elephant has killed Wesely David, another man, Jah Kaba decided to go to his farm on the next day, Friday, but enroute met the wounded, which later engaged him head-on, thus overpowering him and killing Kaba.

In the wake of the two tragic incidents, citizens of Zuo-Barma District are currently said to be living in fear and can longer to their respective farms in fear of wild elephant.

The representative of District #3 Gbarpolu County Joseph Matthew visited the district and held an emergency town hall meeting with the residents, so as to find mean of containing the elephant.

Rep. Matthew promised to inform the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) about the consistent habit of elephants fatally attacking residents and destroying their crops.

He told residents of that district that he is also going to take the matter to the National Legislature and there is a law on the book that no one should kill elephant, but rather it is the elephant that is killing resident. Report by Garmah Never Lomo
