Good Deeds Day Liberia is expected to host a soccer Peace tournament across Montserrado as part of its volunteer services to humanity in Liberia.

Montserrado is the county where the Liberian capital, Monrovia is situated.

Good Deeds Day  is an International Day of volunteering  launched in 2007 in Israel by a Business woman and philanthropist, Shari Arison  through Ruach Tova a Nonprofit Organization that connects between people who want to volunteer and organizations in need of assistance.

Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds all over the World where hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

The group is also involved with charitable programs through food distribution, cloths, education, salvation and health program in collaboration with community based organizations across Liberia.

The tournament, which is expected to kick off on the 30th of January, will feature about sixteen teams across Montserrado intended to select local talents for national and international duties by giving them the opportunities to show case their hidden talents.

Speaking on Monday January 4, 2021 in an exclusive interview with this news outlet in Monrovia, Good Deeds Day Liberia Country Director Gaious B. Ben said the winner of the tournament will walk away with fifty six thousand Liberian dollars ($56,000) while the second or runner up will walk away with twenty five thousand Liberian dollars ($25,000), respectively.

According to Mr. Ben, the tournament will in the coming years reach across the entire fifteen counties to allow players in rural parts of Liberia expose their hidden talents through Good Deeds Day Liberia.

Mr. Ben narrated that registration for the competition for each participating team is twenty United States ($20USD) while disclosing that all of the soccer rules will be observed.

‘’We could choose to leave it open but again this is Liberia once you leave it open, there will be no control, individuals or teams would like to do their own thing because it is free and there will be proper discipline,’’ he observed.

‘’In the future, we want to make it at least a National league because we do not want to limit ourselves therefore, we are open to all activities not only by providing food, education, health program or cloth but open to everything in the country,’’ he noted.

The Good Deeds Day Liberia Country Director Gaious B. Ben said that for the past year, the institution has been providing food assistance, medical program, education and cloths to individuals or communities who cannot afford most of these things.

He explained that 2020 the Organization was challenged financially due to COVID-19 that continues to affect the World thus slowing down its activities in the country.

Mr. Ben told this Reporter that government cannot do everything alone but need collective effort but urged Liberians to come together and join forces in rebuilding the country.
