BUCHANAN, Liberia- Family members of a 4-year-old boy, Dehnyuway Wheagon who was wrongfully circumcised recently by medic said to be a quack physician, are crying out for help from the public to have their child seek advanced medical treatment, after his penis was chopped off in a failed circumcision.
Speaking in Grand Bassa County, Theophilus George, uncle of the child, said since the boy’s penis got chopped off by “a community doctor” identified as Solomon, he hardly sleeps at night. And every day, he finds it very difficult to urinate, describing the condition of the child as worrisome and frustrating.
In tears, Mr. George said that the kid is presently suffering from the unethical circumcision that was performed to the extent where the little boy can neither sit nor play with his friends any longer, because of the severe pain as a result of the circumcision that went wrontg.
The child’s uncle added: “All he does is consistent crying from the day to the night hours based on the severe pain from the wrong circumcision that was performed and it is regrettable that none- of us as relative financially strong to sponsor our son’s treatment. We are totally downhearted and completely embarrassed over the situation.”
Mr. George revealed that since the penis of the four year old boy was slashed off during circumcision by the counterfeit physician, the boy’s is yet to be treated as his condition get worst on each day that passes by.
He pointed out that even though the four-year-old boy has lost his manhood, the doctor assumed that the problem can still be work on but due to the financial constraint they are faced with makes it difficult for them to provide advanced medical treatment for their child, something that prompted their SOS appeal for help.
“We were told by the big doctor of the Liberia Government Hospital to urgently provide advanced treatment for our son and he told us that if we delay the chances of living for the boy would be unpredictable. That is why you see his mother broke in tears calling on well- meaning individual to come to her aid to provide treatment for her only son,” Mr. George maintained.
According to the boy’s mother, the child is presently not getting medical treatment, due to lack of money to pay his medical bill.
The uncle maintained that before little Dehnyuway Wheagon can urinate, they have to place him in a tub of cold water for 30-minutes to make the affected area wet before he can even pee small.
Parents of the child are local farmers and residents of district 4 in Grand Bassa County, where the incident occurred. But due to the critical nature of the situation, they moved to Buchanan to seek support.
Mr. George mentioned that Dr. Joseph Zondo of the Liberia Government Hospital in Buchanan has told the family that if the boy lives with such a condition, he will not be able to bear children or have sexual intercourse, as his manhood has been destroyed completely
