RIVER GEE, Liberia: Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) detachment in the south-eastern River Gee County has seized a big quantity of high grade Marijuana in an abundant building in Chedepo, Putuken.

The latest seizure of this illicit drug comes in the wake of increasing alarm about the rise in the trafficking and abuse of narcotic drugs across Liberia, which many attribute to the increasing wave of criminal activities.

According to the Commander of the LDEA Joseph K. Gokor, the arrest seizure was a result of intelligence received from residents of Putuken, Chedepo that a big quantity of marijuana was intercepted upon arrival recently, but the culprits carrying it are said to have escaped.

Commander Gokor told www.newspublictrust.com here that upon the arrival of the LDEA officers at the abundant building, the suspects escaped and left behind the big bag of the narcotic substance.

The Marijuna, which is estimated to be about two hundred kilograms, was immediately confiscated and taken to the headquarters of the LDEA.

Officers of the LDEA are prepared to crack down on illicit drugs trafficking, but Commander Gokor said they lack mobility and other logistics, something he noted is making it difficult for smooth operation of the agency.

The local LDEA Commander is calling on community dwellers in the County to continue to provide information to members of the security apparatus in about drugs trafficking and traffickers and the palaces where they are kept

Commander Gokor promised to curtail the spread of narcotic substances across River Gee County.

“With cooperation of other security officers in the county we will fight the spread illegal substances across the County,” the local LDEA commander added.
