-To speak at Public Health Conference
BALTIMORE, USA – The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health has invited the prominent African infectious disease scientist, Dr. Dougbeh Christopher Nyan, to speak at this year’s Mzuzah Convergence, a conference centered on issues of African Public Health.
The award-winning scientist, Dr. Nyan, will be on a panel that will discuss issues surrounding sustainability of healthcare innovations in Africa. He will share his experience as an inventor, innovator and entrepreneur, a press release says.
Dr. Nyan is inventor of a rapid multiplex infectious disease diagnostic test that detects and simultaneously identifies multiple infections in less than an hour using one test, the Nyan-Test. The Nyan-Test detects HIV/AIDS, Coronaviruses, Hepatitis viruses, Ebola, Zika, Malaria, and many other infections.
His invention has been awarded a US Patent and he won the prestigious African Innovation Prize Special Award for Social Impact. Dr. Nyan is currently Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of Shufflex Biomed, a biotechnology company he founded.
A former political prisoner in Liberia during military rule of the 80’s, Dr. Nyan is also a social activist known for his consistent advocacy for democracy, good governance, and human rights in general.
According to information from the organizers of the public health conference, the event which takes place this weekend, will witness the participation of Millennials ages 18-33 from across several African countries and from other emerging markets, such as India, Brazil, and China, among others.
Also attending will be executives and government Ministers from these same countries as well as the United States of America.
