The United Methodist Human Rights Monitor has expressed concern on the increase in mob violence in several parts in the country in recent days.
The monitor’s Program Director, Jefferson Knight disclosed that he has seen three bodies of men brutally mob to death along the Monrovia-Roberts Field highway recently.
Addressing a press conference in Monrovia recently, Mr. Knight said the high increase in mob violence has the propensity to fear away investors and create a banana republic.
He maintained that never a week passed by without hearing about killing on radio stations and social media with some portraying horrific scene.
The United Methodist Human Rights Monitor Program Director called on the Liberia National Police to be pro-active by stepping to the plate and take steps aimed at curbing the mob violence.
According to Mr. Knight, these incidents are scarring because some people are using mob violence in setting scores while some are using mob violence as revenging.
The Methodist rights monitor’s Director is encouraging community leaders to begin intervening in incidents of mob violence in their communities and calling security whenever issue of such prompt up in the areas.
The human rights activist also expressed concern about increase in domestic violence in several parts in Liberia; adding: “the reports of Liberians killing Liberians are scarring and it needs to be stopped.”
