Honor Recognizes Commitment To Justice, Peace And Rule Of Law As U.S. Marks 250th Anniversary

KAKATA, Liberia–Resident Circuit Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie of Criminal Court “A”, First Judicial Circuit, Montserrado County, and Presiding Judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County, is set to receive the prestigious America’s 250 International Judicial Excellence Award.
The ceremony is slated to be held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, United States, on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The award will be presented by the International Stop the Violence Alliance, Inc., a U.S. based global organization dedicated to peacebuilding, violence prevention, and strengthening trust between law enforcement and communities.
Recognition for service and integrity
According to the Alliance, Judge Willie was nominated and selected for his outstanding record of commitment to
justice, integrity, leadership, peace, family values, and public trust.
The ceremony is part of activities marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and will bring together jurists, peace advocates, and community leaders from across the world.
“Judge Willie represents the kind of judicial leadership that upholds the law while restoring faith in institutions,” the Alliance stated. “His work embodies the values we seek to promote globally.”
A benchmark for Liberia’s Judiciary
Judge Willie is currently presiding over the August Term of Court at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Kakata, Margibi County. Over the years on the Liberian bench, he has presided over several high-profile criminal cases and has been noted for his firm stance on the rule of law and judicial accountability.
Legal observers say the international recognition is not only a personal honor for Judge Willie, but also a significant acknowledgment of Liberia’s Judiciary and its growing contribution to justice, peace, and democratic governance.
“This award puts Liberia’s judiciary on the global map,” a senior legal practitioner in Monrovia noted. “It shows that integrity and courage on the bench are being noticed beyond our borders.”
