Monrovia, Liberia — Amid widespread speculation over who would take charge of the Lofa County Kickball Team, the Lofa County Sports Association, under the leadership of Chairman, Momo Cyrus, has officially unveiled seasoned kickball coach Jerry Kennedy as head coach ahead of the 2026/2027 National County Sports Meet.

Kennedy was officially unveiled on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the residence of Lofa County Senator and Lofa County Sports Association Chairman EC, Momo Cyrus along the Roberts International Airport (RIA) Highway in Montserrado County.

The experienced tactician was selected from several coaches considered for the position. Kennedy has previously served as head coach of the kickball teams of Margibi, Grand Kru, and Nimba counties.

Chairman Cyrus said the unveiling followed communication from the Ministry of Youth and Sports concerning the county’s appeal, which resulted in a reduction of its previous fine.

“Having received communication from the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding our appeal, in which our fine was reduced, we are pleased to unveil our technical staffs for both kickball and football ahead of the upcoming 2026/2027 National County Sports Meet,” Chairman Cyrus said.

Kennedy will lead Lofa County’s kickball campaign with a clear mandate to capture the National County Sports Meet kickball trophy.

Meanwhile, Coach Kollie Korvay, popularly known as “Mission,” has also been officially reappointed as head coach of the Lofa County Football Team.

Korvay was unveiled on the same day as Kennedy and has been handed the responsibility of guiding Lofa County’s football team during the upcoming National County Sports Meet.

The coach previously led Lofa County to the National County Sports Meet trophy but missed last year’s competition after being detained at the Buchanan Prison in connection with a drug-related case. He was subsequently cleared of the charges.

His absence kept him away from the touchline throughout the competition. Korvay also ended the 2025/2026 domestic football league season without a club.

Now back at the helm of Lofa County, the former Montserrado County head coach has been given a straightforward mandate: bring the cup back to Lofa County.

Kennedy Brings Extensive County Meet Experience

Jerry Kennedy enters the Lofa County assignment with an impressive record in the National County Sports Meet.

The veteran tactician has achieved podium finishes across all three positions in the kickball competition — first, second, and third place.

He led Margibi County to the championship in the 2019 edition, defeating Grand Bassa County in the grand finale. During his time with Margibi, Kennedy also guided the county to multiple second- and third-place finishes.

Kennedy further made history with Grand Kru County by becoming the first coach to guide the county to its first-ever National County Sports Meet kickball grand finale. He finished as runner-up in the 2024/2025 edition.

In the most recent edition of the competition, Kennedy guided Nimba County to a third-place finish.

With such a résumé behind him, expectations will be high as Kennedy begins his latest county assignment with Lofa.

Lofa Drawn in Group C

Lofa County will compete in Group C alongside Grand Bassa, Montserrado, and Sinoe counties.

With Kennedy tasked with leading the kickball side and Korvay returning to the football touchline, Lofa County will enter the 2026/2027 National County Sports Meet with ambitions of making a strong push for silverware in both disciplines.
