Expected To Meet With American Bar Associations

Monrovia, Liberia – The President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah will travel to the United States of America for a month-long official visit aimed at strengthening professional ties and building capacity within Liberia’s legal community.
In a release issued, During the visit, the LNBA President will hold a series of high-level meetings with state bar associations and the American Bar Association (ABA). These engagements will include official meetings with the New York City Bar Association in New York, the Colorado Bar Association in Denver and the ABA in Washington, DC.
The discussions will focus on advancing the design and implementation of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) training for Liberian lawyers, arranging for much-needed resources such as laptops, desktops, and other equipment to be shipped to Liberia, and participating in training sessions on how lawyers can serve as change agents by adhering to and promoting the Rule of Law.
“This visit represents a significant opportunity for Liberia’s legal profession,” said the LNBA President. “By expanding cooperation with U.S. bar associations, we aim to enhance professional development, promote adherence to the rule of law, and build stronger institutional capacity for our legal community.”
The LNBA believes this mission will serve as a steppingstone toward long-term partnerships that will strengthen legal practice, judicial independence, and access to justice in Liberia.
The LNBA is the umbrella organization for all lawyers in Liberia. It is committed to upholding the rule of law, promoting legal education, and protecting the integrity of the legal profession in Liberia.
Meanwhile, the LNBA has welcomed the nomination of Cllr. Varmah by the President of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., as Chairman of the Law Reform Commission.
In accepting the nomination, Cllr. Varmah described his preferement as both an honor and a call to national service. He noted that the Law Reform Commission plays a vital role in reviewing and modernizing Liberia’s laws to reflect contemporary realities, strengthen justice delivery, and promote good governance.
He emphasized his commitment to working with fellow commissioners, the Legislature, and other stakeholders to ensure that Liberia’s legal framework continues to evolve in ways that uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens.
“I am deeply grateful for the confidence reposed in me by the President. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s democratic growth through a modern, transparent, and responsive legal system,” Cllr. Varmah said.
