Demonstrating Commitment To Community Health, Ahead Of Annual General Scientific Meeting
Monrovia, Liberia –Ahead of its Annual General Scientific Meeting and 10th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled for September 2026, the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons (LCPS) has commenced a series of activities aimed at promoting community engagement and improving access to healthcare.
As part of these activities, LCPS Resident Doctors from the Faculty of Community Health joined the Liberia Chapter of the West African College of Physicians over the weekend to conduct a free medical outreach for residents of underserved communities on Bushrod Island, a LCPS press release said on Thursday, July 14, 2026.
The outreach, held at D. Tweh High School in New Kru Town, began with health and wellness education sessions presented by Community Health Resident Doctors of the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons. The sessions focused on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of seeking timely medical care.
Although the outreach was initially designed to serve about 300 people, an overwhelming turnout of approximately 1,000 patients was recorded. Residents received free consultations, diagnoses, and treatment for both acute and chronic medical conditions. Cases treated included enteric fever, malaria, skin diseases, gastroenteritis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, other infectious diseases, and common health conditions.
The outreach reflects LCPS’s commitment to bringing quality healthcare closer to communities while providing practical training opportunities for its resident doctors. The Resident Doctors of the Faculty of Community Health, who are based at Redemption Hospital, continue to provide patient care while advancing their specialist medical training.
