How Sylvester Karmbor Is Due To Participate In Liberia Rural Education Training Program

MONROVIA — As he prepares to leave Liberia for China, TU graduate Sylvester H. Karmbor has expressed appreciation to the People’s Republic of China and its Ministry of Education for opening an international learning opportunity for Liberian educators.
Karmbor is scheduled to participate in the Liberia Rural Education Training Program, to be held from August 17 to 30, 2026, at Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China.
Rather than viewing the trip simply as an opportunity for international travel, Karmbor says he sees it as an investment in knowledge and an opportunity to gain experiences that could contribute to Liberia’s education sector, particularly in rural communities.
He has also singled out Josiah Sloh Negba, Grand Kru County Education Officer, for appreciation for his role in facilitating the opportunity through the education system.
‘This Opportunity Means a Lot to Me.’
Karmbor said he is deeply grateful for the confidence and support that enabled him to become part of the program.
“Many thanks to the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Education, and CEO Josiah Sloh Negba for this great opportunity,” he said,
He said the opportunity would allow him to learn from China’s educational experiences, interact with other professionals, and return with new ideas that could be useful to Liberia.
Karmbor believes international educational exchanges can play an important role in strengthening Liberia’s human capacity, particularly when participants are given opportunities to observe and learn from systems that have made progress in areas such as rural education.
Carrying Grand Kru and Liberia with him
As he prepares for the journey, Karmbor said he is mindful of the responsibility that comes with representing his county and country abroad.
He expressed hope that his participation will not only benefit him personally but also contribute to the broader development of education in Liberia.
“There’s nothing that is bigger than God. I pray that God guides and protects me throughout this journey. I will go with the hope of making my family, Grand Kru, and Liberia proud.”
Karmbor’s participation in the China training program comes at a time when Liberia continues to seek partnerships and international exchanges aimed at improving educational opportunities, particularly for communities outside the capital.
For the TU graduate, the journey is therefore not just about crossing borders—it is about learning, representing Liberia, and returning with knowledge that can make a difference.
