Local Immigration Commander urges collaboration among State Security

A local Commander of Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) in northwestern Liberia has called for a stronger collaboration amongst the country’s joint security forces.

Commander Vivian W. Roberts, the newly inducted head of the Lofa County Detachment of the LIS said Liberia’s joint security including her agency, Liberia National Police, Liberia Fire Service, the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) , the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and other security apparatus, must work together to ensure maximum security for the people.

Lofa County is situated on Liberia’s border with Guinea.

She described state security forces as noble institutions that must collaborate fearlessly, in order for the institutions to move forward the country forward.

Speaking when she was inducted at a ceremony in the provincial capital, Voinjama recently, the new LIS Commander of Lofa County encouraged members of the LIS and the joint security in the County to remain neutral in the discharge of their duties.

Commander Roberts further called on the joint security in the County to work together for the betterment of various security institutions.

Inducting the new Immigration Commander in Lofa County, the head of Leeward Services at the LIS, Chief Maliki Sheriff cautioned the newly inducted commander of the LIS Detachment in the county to work harder in ensuring that officers know their duties and responsibilities in maintaining law and order,, especially at various entry points in Lofa County.

Mr. Sheriff also further called on tribal communities, civil organizations, religious and traditional groups, the youth and the County authorities to work collaboratively with the joint security forces for improvement of the County.

“Security is everyone’s business and as such, it requires the involvement of all,” the LIS official said.
