Man Who Allegedly Raped 15yr-Old Step-Daughter Finally In Court

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE- A man, age 36, who allegedly raped and impregnated his now 15-year-old step daughter who was 13 at the time on Friday, June 5, 2020 appeared in the courtroom of the Monrovia City Court on Capitol Hill in the Liberian capital.

Johnson Chuluty, who recently arrested investigated and charged after a video interview recorded of the little girl at her location in Lofa County went viral on the Social Media. The rape is said to have taken place in Monrovia some time back but the child was whisked off to her family home in Lofa, as the step father absconded.

According to police charge sheet, on May 27, 2020, Ceasar Morris reported to the women and children protection section at the Central headquarters that on May 24, 2020, she received a video on Facebook messenger from his friend about the victim narrating her story about how she was raped by her step father, defendant Johnson Chuluty; which resulted into pregnancy and she now has a child.

Information revealed that after the victim mother Mary Chuluty discovered that her daughter was sexually abused and gotten pregnant by her husband Johnson Chuluty, Mary Chuluty sent the victim to her grandmother, Tenneh Ponkay in Foya, Lofa County.

During video interview with the victim, she narrated to the investigators that she was living with her mother Mary Chuluty and step father defendant Johnson Chuluty in Johnsonville, Montserrado County prior to her sending back in Lofa County.

The victim further stated that her mother Mary Chuluty usually go sell early in the morning about 4:30-5:00Am leaving she and her brother with defendant Johnson Chuluty to the house. And when her mother leave, her step father defendant Chuluty will put her brother outside and have sex with her by inserting his penis inside her private part.

Narrating further, the victim explained to the investigators that after sometime, her mother noticed that she was pregnant, her mother did her MTT test, it was positive and she told her mother it was her step father defendant Chuluty that had sex and impregnanted her.

For his part, defendant Johnson Chuluty admitted that he had sex with his step daughter several times which resulted to pregnancy and when his  wife Mary Chuluty observed that the victim was pregnant, he ran away from the house.

Investigation details showed that defendant Chuluty that it was discovered that the victim was pregnant, defendant Chuluty ran away from the house and placed himself in hiding from December 2018 up to June 1,2020 when he was arrested.

Defendant Chuluty had sex with the victim by intentionally penetrating her private part with his penis without her consent.

That defendant Chuluty was 34year old which is older than eighteen years of age and the victim was 15 years old, which is less than eighteen years of age at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, the police has charged defendant Johnson Chuluty with rape in violation of the Act to amend the New Penal Code Chapter 14 section 14:70 and to provide for Gang rape approved December 29, A.D., 2005 and published by Authority of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Monrovia, Liberia January 17, 2006. It provides that:

A person who has sexual intercourse with another persons (Male or female) has committed rape if”

(a)(I) He intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus, mouth or any other opening of another person (make or female) with his penis, without the victim’s consent.

(b) the victim is less than eighteen years old, provided the actor is eighteen years of age or older.

Meanwhile, after Friday’s court appearance, the alleged rapist, Johnson Chuluty will be reminded to the Monrovia Central Prison in the South Beach community awaiting court trial.
