New CBL Governor to be named soon, as Pres Weah Accepts Milton Weeks’ Resignation

The Executive Mansion has said President George Manneh Weah will shortly name a new Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), after the resignation of Milton Weeks on Tuesday.

The Liberian leader received and accepted the resignation of the CBL Executive Governor, a press release from the Mansion said.

No reason was given for the CB’s Governor’s resignation but it comes amidst an unprecedented hike in the foreign exchange rate, with the Liberian dollar now being exchanged for more than 155 to one US dollars on the local market spiking prices of commodities daily.

In accepting his resignation, President Weah is said to have commended Mr. Weeks for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavors.

At the same time, the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Mrs. Elfreda Stewart Tamba has ended her tenure/

President has lauded Madam Stewart-Tamba for successfully ending her tenure as Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).

 

Madam Tamba’s tenure officially ended on Saturday June 30, 2018.
