Nimba County, Liberia– Nimba County electoral districts #7 Representative Roger Swy Domah has called on leaders of the County to put aside politics and greed and commit themselves to the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Re. Domah said if leaders of the County want to stop the further spread of the virus, there is a need that they as leaders collaborates and coordinates efforts by working together in the interest of the ordinary people.

The Nimba County district #7 Lawmaker explained that everyone distributing preventive materials and providing awareness individually will not do much in combating this deadly disease.

He explained that in order for the county to overcome this deathly disease there’s a serious that leaders come together and identify lapses in the health sector, especially strategic areas before onward distribution of material like buckets and other preventive items, in the midst of huge challenges facing the health sector.

“The nation needs unity in this fight so we as leaders of Nimba County and the government should encourage the involvement of all citizens and residents of Liberia in this fight. We need to focus on releasing allotments being held at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP)  to major health facilities across the country, considering risk benefits for frontline fighters before other considerations,” Rep. Domah explained.

“To reduce the vulnerability of communities in the fight against the coronavirus, community dwellers should be trained for contact tracing and awareness, maintaining that moving groups from one community to another is not safe for the struggling population.”

Rep. Domah further said: “I want to use this medium to also ask our security personnel and all those enforcing the lockdown to exercise restraint in the discharge of this dedicate national duty.”

The Nimba County Legislator reiterated calls for all Liberians and residents to fully respect instructions from government and health authorities to protect themselves and others during this period.

“We must all observe the social distancing rules and avoid actions that will undermine the fight against COVID-19, which cannot be won without collaborative and well-coordinated efforts of all concerned, “Rep. Domah added.
