Incidents of domestic violence continues unabated across Liberia.

In recent months, several children have fallen victim to cruel treatment from either their parent, guardian or other adults battering or placing their hands in hot oil/water on the fire.

Now, a 44-year-old woman identified as Marie Vour has been arrested by the Liberia National Police for allegedly drenching her step son, Christain Vour, age 13 with a tin of red oil paint.

The incident occurred at the weekend in Zwedru G. Gedeh County in southeastern Liberia.

The victim told Journalists that his step mother poured some of the paint in a cup to write a number on his T-shirt, but when she found out that he was angry, she took the entire tin of oil paint and wasted it on him.

According to little Christian, after his step mother wasted the paint on him, he ran into the neighbourhood crying for help. He said upon seeing him crying, a neighbor identified as Alexander K. Gwein came to his rescue.

Mr. Gwein told reporters that after seeing the condition of the child, he alerted the Police, after which the boy was rushed to the Martha Tubman memorial hospital in the County’s capital, Zwedru for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the victim is currently undergoing medical treatment, while his step mother Marie Vour is being investigated by the Women and Children department of the Liberia National Police.
