It has been confirmed in Monrovia that the daughter of Liberia’s former Chief Justice, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott has been killed by robbers who stabbed the young woman in a night-time raid at their home in the Brewerville area west of the Liberian capital.

The latest attack on the home of the former Chief Justice comes amid a string of attacks by robbers in various communities some of them carrying knives, cutlasses and even guns sparking fear of insecurity in various communities.  The homes of several Judges have not been spared from attack without the perpetrators brought to book in recent times.
According to information gathered, former Chief Justice Scott made formal complaints of her attack which took place both February 8 and 9 2023 without any action taken by the Liberian National Police.
It can be recalled In 2021, an Immigration officer Maude Elliott and William Richard Tolbert were killed in their respective homes but to date, no one has been arrested or link to the killing.

The former Chief Justice narrowly escaped the attack alive in the night-time Wednesday.

Liberia National Police (LNP) in a press release on Thursday, February 23, 2023 says it has begun investigation into the incident on Wednesday night, leading to the death of one of her children.

Police say Justice Scott who “is now under appropriate police protection, reported some days ago in a radio interview that her family had experienced several attempts from suspected burglars to enter her home at night. This report led to an increase in police patrol in the area.”

According to the LNP, preliminary findings from Wednesday night incident which occurred about 9:30pm, as narrated by Madam Scott, revealed that a man who was part of a crew she hired to carry out some construction work at her residence remained hidden inside at the end of the workday, while his colleagues had retired for the day.”

The name of the man has not been given. And the motive of the attack is not yet known.

Police reported that the former Chief Justice Scott said she had observed during the day that the man, who was looking somewhat “strange”, attacked her family at night and killed one of her daughters when he was tackled.

The Preliminary investigation shows no evidence of a break-in, the LNP press release said.

Former Chief Justice Scott has been one of the lead lawyers for the Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence fraction of the Liberty party.
Recently, former Judges and Justice have complained about being attacked but no security measures were put in place to arrest the situation.
Meanwhile, police are currently in search of the suspected robbers and urge the public to come forth with any information that will aid its investigation.

Former Chief Justice Scott previously headed Liberia’s Elections Commission and served as Senator of Maryland County.
