Pres Weah leads Liberians in Paying Tribute to the dead

Monrovia, Liberia: In commemoration of National Decoration Day, President George Manneh Weah has paid tribute to fallen Liberian heroes, heroines and loved ones.

President Weah on Wednesday March 14 visited the grave sites of the late President William V.S. Tubman and his loved ones including some prominent members of the CDC.

The Liberian leader commenced the observance of Decoration Day with a visit to the Thinkers’ Village Cemetery where he used the occasion to pay homage to his late Mother, Anna Quaye-Weah.

President Weah later visited the Duport Road Massacre Monument to humbly pay homage to those that lost their lives as a result of the Duport Road Massacre. He also laid wreath and offer prayers on-behalf of the departed souls, an Executive Mansion press release said.

President Weah also made a stop at the Duport Road and Voka Mission Cemeteries where he honored his late Grand Mother, Emman Klon-Jlaleh Brown and his friend and former school-mate, the late Kadee Nagbe.

The Liberian Leader then visited the Barnesville Estate where he visited the grave sites of two fallen partisans of the CDC, the late Papie Solo and Col. Blackie. President Weah then climaxed the day by visiting the Executive Pavilion where he similarly visited the gravesites of President William V.S. Tubman; offered prayers and laid wreaths.

Meanwhile, President Weah has on behalf of the Government of Liberia extended his deepest sympathy to all those that lost their beloved ones and friends throughout the years, and has called on Liberians to observe the day with peace and harmony. The President made the remarks on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 during an address to the Nation from his Foreign Ministry Office.
