Pro-CDC Militants Who Allegedly Attacked Lewis Brown With Stones Now In Court

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- The Liberia National police in Monrovia have arrested, investigated, charged and sent four pro-CDC militants to court for allegedly stoning former Liberian Ambassador to the UN, Lewis Brown who is lead planner for the opposition protest slated for December 17, 2022.

Angry mob reportedly attacked Brown, who is head of the new CPP leader Alexander Cummings 2022 Campaign Team, outside the Voice of Liberia Radio station on the Capitol Byepass in central Monrovia recently, after he appeared to promote the planned anti-government protest code named, “We taya suffering”.

Police investigation established that defendants Soe, Jallah, Marvie, Marwolo, and others to be identified were seen with sticks and other deadly objects and chanting anti-Lewis Brown slogans, “Lewis Brown wants to bring war.”

As they were chanting the slogans, the threat level by the angry mob conflict increased, according to the Police.

After few hours of chanting slogans, some officers of the Liberia National Police arrived on the screen to restore calm and bring relief to Mr. Brown and his men that accompanied him including the employees of the station that Mr. Brown visited.

Among other things, the police investigation noted that while the LNP officers were trying to escort Mr. Brown, the defendants regrouped themselves and started throwing stones at the former Information Minister and the PSU officer that were safeguarding the chairperson of Team Cummings and the led planner of the December 17, planned protest.

In the process of the stones throwing, the windshield of one of the PSU vehicle was damaged. The cost of the damage is put at over $US 250

Meanwhile, the four defendants have been charged with multiple crimes including rioting, failure to disperse, obstructing highways and public passages, in violation of chapter 17, section 17.7.

Other crimes are criminal mischief, in violation of chapter 15, section 15.5 and disorderly conduct in violation of chapter 17, section 17.3 of the revised penal code pending court trial.
