Rights Monitor Pursues Case Against Woman For Allegedly Brutalizing Child

The United Methodist Human Right Monitor has filed a complaint with the Liberia National Police against a middle aged woman for allegedly flogging a 17-year-old boy until he went unconscious

The seventeen-year-old boy identified as Stephen Smith is currently nursing his injuries at the ELWA Hospital after being flogged several by a group of Zogoes allegedly on order of Helena Salay.

Speaking in an interview at the LNP headquarters over the weekend, the Rights Monitor’s Program Manager, Jefferson Knight said he decided to intervene on the victim behalf following the release of the woman by police officers assigned at the Robertsfield Highway.

According to Mr. Knight, the case was transferred from the police depot along the Robertsfield Highway to the LNP headquarters, because of the severity of the boy’s condition.

The United Methodist Human Monitor officials is therefore demanding justice for the 17-year-old boy who is said to be fighting life and is bed ridden.
