President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has withdrawn his nomination of Senator Prince Johnson’s party Chairman, Cllr. Cooper Kruah, replacing him with another Liberian Lawyer, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh.
No reason was given for the change but the Executive Mansion announced in a press release on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 that Cllr. Kruah is now being nominated as Labour Minister.
This week, a local daily quoted the Nimba County Senator Prince Johnson as saying, he is now rregretting supporting President Boakai during the 2023 elections,
Sen. Johnson’s party, MDR has been a major ally of Boakai’s Unity Party Alliance and the controversial Nimba County Senator has lately been complaining of the new Liberian President giving his camp less positions than they deserve giving the huge Nimba County votes he was able to garner for UP.
Cllr. Tweh has been in private legal practice up to his nomination. The local Daily Observer newspaper described him as, “a towering figure in Liberia’s legal and business and civic circles, Tweh is the immediate past President of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC)”.
