A social media post of a Liberia Immigration Services (LIS) officer caught on camera seemingly extremely under the influence, has resulted to his disrobing and subsequent suspension.
Shots of him lying on the roadside after he had disembarked a passenger bus in which he was travelling on from Maryland County to Monrovia went viral.
One footage showed him make several failed attempts to get off the ground and board the vehicle as the rest of the passengers looked on with some mocking and others either photographing or videotaping him.
Few other passengers later helped him into the front cabin of the bus by practically toting him.
Deputy Commissioner for Investigation Moses Yebleh told journalists at the weekend in Monrovia that punitive actions have consequently been taken against Boima Zayeh.
“In view of the above, Officer Zayeh has been disrobed, suspended for time indefinite and turned over to the Professional Standard Division of the LIS for conduct of an investigation in line with the LIS disciplinary regulations and administrative instructions.”
He said upon the completion of the investigation, recommendations advanced will be fully implemented by the LIS authorities, Yebleh said.
According to him, drinking on duty and off duty Contravenes Section 18.1 of the code of conduct of the LIS. He has assured of a speedy investigation and that its outcome will be made public.
