SPORTS: Community League In Monrovia’s Suburb Attracts Big Crowd

The Barnesville Estate Sports Pitch was a scene of action over the weekend, with huge turnout and exciting football display.

It was the opening of the 2020/2021 edition of the most talked and watched league The Barnesville Estate Area League And Its Environs.

The tournament officially kicked off  on Saturday, 28 August, with a grand parade from the Bend & Stop junction with host SUPER BOSAC along with representatives from all of the participating team.

The officially kickoff was staged with an indoor program and the day climaxed with several exibition games.

In game one on Saturday, 28 August host SUPER BOSAC thrashed Rep.Richard N.Koon ALL-STAR 11 homes run to 5 in kickball, while Topside Under-15 won a narrow 3-2 win over Ambassador FC Under -15.

And in the day final showpiece it was Benjamin Brown lone goal in the second half from a beautiful freekick that secured three points for SUPER BOSAC over BOSA that secured a narrow 1-0 win.

Montserrado County District 11 & 16 Lawmakers, Rep. Richard N.Koon and Rep. Dixon Segboe along with minister Daniel D. Ziankahn were instrumental in securing a win for SUPER BOSAC.

On Sunday, August  29 with the huge turnout with over thousands of spectators, defending champions Area V was held to a 1-1 draw with Area L.

Two substitutes, Marcus Kear and  Samuel Snoh of Topside score for both team after a goalless draw in game two while in game one Championship outfit club Pepper FC striker Tim Ben 35-yard free kick salvage a point for the Congress Boys of Area C after  an own goal by Salia Talaiuallay, with full time ending in a 1-1 draw.

In the opening game of the tournament the girls of Area C won a comfortable 5 homes run to 3 while Area V forfeited points to Area L.

The red, white and blue of Area C next fixture is against  Area L on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in both kickball and football in game two while Area V will fight Area R in game one both kickball and football.

This year edition is held under the auspices of Barnesville Old-Timer Social And Athletic Club (SUPER BOSAC) with sponsorship from Montserrado County District # 11Lawmker Rep. Richard N.Koon.

The tournament is play under the theme “Ensuring The Awareness Of COVID-19 Through Sports” with games play at the famous opened-air Barnesville Estate Sports Pitch .

Twenty-seven teams competing this season .

Area V is the defending champions in the football category while Area S is the champions in the Kickball tournament.

The tournament is expected to run for one month.

SUPER BOSAC is an Old-Timer club with members above over 50’s.

The club was established in 2002 and has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Barnesville Estate and Its Environs.

During the Ebola crisis in 2014-2015, SUPER BOSAC identifies with several orphange along with  the distributions of  200 arm chairs in game 2013-2014 to several schools such as House of Prayer, E. J. Goodrige High School among others  and financial aid to the less fortunate within Barnesville Estate.

Cllr. Milton D.Taylor serves as president of SUPER BOSAC with his second terms hope to expire soon.

The tournament will continue this week beginning Monday,30 August 2021.

In game one Area K welcomes Area P in both kickball and football  while Area H entertains BZ in game two in both kickball and football beginning at 10:00AM.
