Liberians have been urged to treat corruption like the new Ebola virus disease, if the country is to get better.
Serving as the commencement speaker of the 99th Graduation ceremony of the Collage of Business and Administration recently, the resident Pastor of the Central SDA Church, Pastor Geterminah Geteh told the graduates and Liberians in general to flee from corruption as it damages the growth and development of any nation.
According to him, corruption is a terrible vase that breaks the society apart all together. He went on to say that Liberia is at stake because of corruption and if the threat upon the country is to drop or be stopped, everyone should have what he called “Ebola bucket” at their various houses, offices, private and public places which will allow visitors to disinfect their hands by washing before entering those places.
According to him, during the time Liberia was faced with the killer virus (Ebola), nobody could identify with those who contracted the disease.
“They were quarantined or carried to Ebola treatment center and nobody will say that is my child or husband so he or she should not be taken there” the SDA Preacher man added.
Moreover, he said that over the years the university has produced those he said are morally bankrupt. He cautioned the graduates by saying that Liberia has many corrupt people and that those who are graduating from the university should of Liberia should set positive differences.
Speaking directly to the current government of Liberia, the SDA preacher indicated that if they (Government) will make it in the fight against corruption, those who are found into the act should be treated based on the laws and not based on friendship, partisanship. Additionally, he said the past government did not succeed in the fight against corruption because they had friendship with corruption.
“You can never win a war against a public enemy when you are his private friend” he added. The commencement speaker in his nearly one hour massage to the graduates, he was basically speaking all about corruption and how they can be the changed to that will help Liberia move from its present economy status to a better one.
During the program, he advised the University administration to make a change by increasing the number of disciplines, which will make students from the state university to think critically rather than reflecting the views of others, make them credible, reliable, discipline.
