Two Girls, Ages 4 And 11, Allegedly Raped In Just One Week In Maryland County

BARRABO, Maryland, Liberia- Police in this southeastern county have charged and forwarded  to Court a Man, 37 for allegedly raping a 4-year-old girl, the second rape case in this area in just one week.

David Jaffa has appeared in the Pleebo City Magisteria court,  after being charged with Statutory Rape, which is a felony under Liberian law and rape is a nonbailable crime in Liberia.

The rape menace has gone on the rise around Liberia in recent times. Because of the escalation in rape and other gender based violence cases, President George Manneh Weah has declared rape a “national emergency” in this West African state.

This news outlet has gathered that the crime was committed on Friday, October 15, 2021 in Big J Town, Barrabo statutory district, which is 75 kilometers away from the port city of Harper.

David Jaffa, who is a popular businessman in the district, was said to be in misunderstanding with his wife for the past two years.

According to Police charged sheet, the rape survivor has gone to purchase some food items from him (David Jaffa) when she was forced into his bedroom and allegedly Rape her.

The suspect is currently behind bars at the palace of correction in Fish Town ,River Gee County awaiting court trial, while the survivor is currently at the James Jenkins Dossen Referral Hospital in Harper undergoing  treatment.

Suspect Jaffa charges are in compliance with section 14. 70 of the new penal code of Liberia, which states that rape under our penal code 14.70 is a felony of the first degree.

Last week, Police in Pleebo charged and sent to court a 44 year-old man for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

Elliot Cooper, 44, was charged with Statutory rape and forwarded to the Pleebo City Magisterial court on Thursday  for trail.
