Up To 500 Liberian Students To Benefit From Scholarships

A nongovernmental organization, Keyara’s Gift, has unveiled plans to increase the number of students on its scholarship from 150 to 500 in eight  of the  counties by next year,

The Executive Director of  Keyara’s Gift, Reverend Francis Kollie, disclosed that over 150 students are currently benefitting from the scholars in three counties.

The Liberian Christian cleric made the disclosure when the Keyara’s Gift hosted an Easter Reception for over 150 students on its scholarship program in Monrovia during the weekend.

Rev. Kollie, who is also the Country Director of Prison Fellowship Liberia, disclosed that students who academic endeavors have been disrupted as a result of the death of their parents to Ebola, corona virus, children of inmates and less fortunate children will benefit from the Keyara’s Gift scholarship program.

According to him, the scholarship is holistic because   include provision of   housing for the students, health insurance  , book bags and books for some of the students

The Keyara’s Gift Country Director is therefore called on the government to strengthen the monitoring department at the Ministry of Education.

According to him, the tuitions at private schools are too high as a result lot of children are not benefitting from the scholarship offer by Keyara’s Gift.

Kollie appealed for President George Weah’s intervention in order to reduce high fees pay for students at private schools in the country.

He explained that Keyara’s Gift gesture is to buttress government’s efforts in developing its citizens for the betterment of the country. And as such, he said that the government should not sit idly and allow schools charge high for students.
