Gbarnga, Liberia- A 28-year-old man identified as Justice Sulon Mulbah, has been arrested and charged by police in Bong County for allegedly murdering his 22 years old fiancese, Hwa Gbokol, amidst a rise in domestic violence around Liberia.
The incident occurred in Jarpkah Town, Sanoyea District, Bong County, many miles outside Gbarnta.
The 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed the young woman (Hawa Gbokolo) to death last week, when they both met on a farm road in Sanoyea District and dumped her corpse in a nearby- swamp.
Justice Sulon Mulbah, who was charged by the Liberia National Police on June 8, 2019, is presently in police custody at the Gbarnga Central Police Station pending and will be sent to court today June 11, 2019.
The deceased was on her way from her farming spot with her week-old baby, her little brother and her older daughter when she met her untimely death on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
In a heated argument, the man was said to have also expressed bitterness over his girlfriend returning home late as he was already seeing her with another guy.
In a serious tone, he told www.newspublictrust.com: “I never really wanted to kill my woman but she has been making fun of me about a guy who I have suspected of having an affairs will her but she can’t tell me the true”
According to the suspect, the victim’s mother had over the past been supportive to her daughter’s action of having an affairs with the unidentified guy who had allegedly promised to do all for the victim if she had left his baby father.
“When I met her on the road, I started to feel bad about what she has been doing to me by cheating on me so I took my child from her and stabbed her two times with the sharp knife, I hold her throat for a very longer time and step over her nick and when I noticed that she had died, I dumped her body in a nearby swamp and escaped,” he explained.
The Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment Commander, Col. John Kellenson Flomo said that upon hearing the horrific news from Sanoyea District, they immediately dispatched a team of investigators to the crime sense.
He explained that the remains of Hawa Gbokolo was turned over to family members for funeral arrangements; following a preliminary investigation by the team of jurors that establish a foul play on the body.
Col. Flomo added that the Police took the alleged murderer to the Police headquarters in Gbarnga, in order to avoid the act of mob violence by residents in Sanoyea District.
The Crimes Services Division boss stated that suspect Justice Sulon Mulbah willingly admitted to a team of LNP officers that he carried out the killing.
Meanwhile, the newborn baby left behind by the slain woman is currently with the victim’s parents, as the case awaits court trial. Social workers in Liberia have in recent times raised alarm over the spike in domestic violence all around this country, with many of them being fatal.
