Reports from Grand Cape Mount County in Western Liberia say violence erupted in the town of Kinjor over the weekend, leaving an Immigration officer with a broken hand.
The violence, which involved stone throwing, happened apparently in connection with the induction ceremony of a Town Chief Adama Hens in Kinjor, who some claimed to have been imposed on them.
The aftermath of the induction ceremony came at the result when residents of Kinjor resisted the imposed town chief by statutory district superintendent Frank Sheriff.
One report by the state radio Correspondent in Cape Mount, Mark Rogers said the conflict was degenerating into a one. He quoted the County’s Senator, Cllr Varney Sherman as saying that there was an urgent need for a reconciliation conference in the County.
According to some Kinjor residents, the imposed town chief was accused by some Kinjor residents of financial malpractices and some building materials that he received on behalf of the community when he was serving the position of youth leader.
The residents said not t, while the induction ceremony was taking place, the resident resulted into a protest action with cutlasses and weapons in their hands to harm anyone who could put stop to them.
In the violence, one report says a community member was flogged by security officers and during the evening hours several persons involved into the chaotic situation were arrested by the Liberia National Police. Report by Garmah Never Lomo
