”We Need Logistics To Fight Coronavirus“-Maryland Co. Health Officer Appeals

HARPER, Liberia- The County Health Officer of Maryland this southeastern County, Dr.Methodius George is calling on Political, Religious, Non-Governmental and   International Non-Governmental Organizations in Liberia and Maryland County to solicit support for the Maryland County Health Team.

The Maryland County Health Team currently runs the only Referral Hospital in the Southeastern Region and Provides Health Services to Liberians from Grand Kru, River Gee and host Maryland Counties.

Prior to the Coronavirus Pandemic Outbreak in Liberia, this facility was also providing Medical Services to Citizens from Neborhing Ivory Coast.

Speaking during a meeting held with citizens in the County’s Administration Building, the Maryland County Health Officer said the Health Team will soon be locating those High Risk to the Coronavirus Pandemic, who came in close contact with the Coronavirus patient.

Dr. George disclosed that American Based Non- Governmental Organization Partners In Health is helping in the Renovation of the Cape Palmas High School to be used as Quarantine Center temporally while they solicit funds to renovated the Catholic Diocese of Cape Palmas Mission just few miles outside Harper City.

“Those People that are to be quarantine are Liberians and they deserved to live in a better Environment where they will feel at Home”

“Those People need electricity, running water, mattresses as well as toiletries to be used while serving their at the Quarantine Center here in Harper”

“I’m appealing to Everyone in this gathering, if you are from an Organization or Religious group whatsoever donation you can make or have please help us with it so we can make these People that are to be quarantine comfortable,” said the Maryland County Health Officer.

Maryland County now has three suspected Cases of the Coronavirus and a single Confirmed Case at the Pleebo Health Center, which was recorded on the 21 of April this year.

The Maryland County Health Officer currently is facing difficulties during supervision due to the condition of his Toyota Land Cruiser Vehicle.

The Health Officer assured Citizens at the Meeting that the Cape Palmas High School will be disinfected after this Pandemic and People can use the building again for Schooling Purposes,the Maryland County Health Team will Spray that entire Building and makes sure its save.

On December 5 of 2019, the Ministry of Health and Partners  certificated the Maryland County Health Team as the best performing County Health Team in Region 4.

The head of the Health Ministry in the County lamented that in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak in the County they all also providing medical services to Patient who are not affected by COVID-19.

“We received not less than hundred and fifty Patients on a Daily basic and I’m happy that our people are making use of the James Jenkins Dossien Referral Hospital for proper treatment

“we need Fuel Oil for our Ambulances to go in these places and bring our sick people to the health facility , vehicles, mattresses and funds to Renovate some of the facilities that we will be making use of during this time. And we cannot do this alone we need the support of the Community, if you have anything to donate please think about the Maryland County Health Team,” Dr. George said.
