Says Her Office
Monrovia-Liberia – It has been disclosed that Liberia’s Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has been flown to Accra, Ghana for “specialist” medical treatment, after she developed “respiratory complications” that could not be treated in this country.
A press release from her office on Tuesday August 11, 2020, said Dr. Taylor was flown out of the country to seek additional medical care at a specialist hospital in Accra, Ghana.
“The Vice President, VP Howard-Taylor was earlier admitted at the Aspen Medical Facility, in Sinkor, Monrovia, on Friday August 7, 2020, due to respiratory complications.”
“Having favorably responded to treatment and the state of her health stabilized, it was advised that the Vice President seeks further medical attention at a more advanced facility with specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory ailments,” the press release from the VP’s office concluded.
Vice President Taylor is the latest in a long list of Liberian government officials to travel to foreign countries both in Africa and elsewhere seeking medical treatment, due to the low quality of health services in this country.
