Liberia’s Vice President, Madam Jewel Hoard Taylor is expected to deliver the Keynote Address at a program marking the official launching of the Muslims women for Unity, Peace and Development (MWUPD) tomorrow, Friday, February 3, 2023.
According to the executive Director of the organization, Mrs. Majaka Kamara, the program will take place at the Black Jinnah Mosque located on the Japanese Freeway.
She disclosed that the program will coincide with the formal launching of a campaign to promote the participation of Muslim women in the pending elections in Liberia.
The campaigns will seek to mobilize women to register and vote in Liberia. The program will include a rally to raise funds for the voter registration campaign. The Representative of District #2, Jimmy Smith is expected to install the officers while representatives from the Swedish and Egyptian Embassy
MWUPD was established in 2014 to advocate for the rights of Muslim women in Liberia. Since its establishment, the organization has been involved in a number of activities including Risk communication and community engagement on COVID and Ebola, campaign to minimize FGM and to discourage early marriages.
