An advocacy Organization, Men Against Rape and Domestic Violence has expressed dismay over the increase in domestic violence against women and Children in the Country.
MARDV through its Executive Director Mark Mengofia said, the proliferation of domestic violence is alarming and need collective effort from citizens to end the threat.
Speaking at a press over the weekend, Mark Mengofia made specific referenced a lady identified as Dorris a mother of six children who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend Lawrence King in Handi Town Bong County.
He also mentioned the case of a contracted Computer Teacher at the Nathan E. Gibson who allegedly raped and killed a 17-year old girl in Paynesville, and a Liberian-American Othello Bruce who was also accused of repeatedly raping his 14-year-old daughter in the United States of America.
The MARDV boss made it clear that the rape law of 2005 states that having an affairs with anyone under the age of 18 is rape and is punishable by law.
He also recounted an incident that was recently reported involving an officer of the Liberia National Police identified as Sayon Wolah who allegedly kicked a pregnant woman in the stomach on the Old Road leading to she and her unborn child death.
Meanwhile, Men Against Rape and Domestic Violence has made several recommendations to National Government aimed at curtailing domestic violence against women and children across the Country.
Mark Mengofia is recommending that when rape and domestic violence cases are reported and those accused run from facing the law, such individual image should be placed at major public institutions, borders and highways, to serve as deterrent.
He thanked Police Inspector General Gregory Colman, for taking actions against Police Officers who have been accused and are causing problems for the profession.
Mengofia cautioned IG Coleman to initiate a speedy trail for domestic violence cases and the findings be made public to the citizens.
