At long last, Liberian President, George Weah is expected to visit counties in Liberia on a tour to appreciate and interact with those who voted him President of the country, over three years after coming to power on January 22, 2017.
The long-awaited tour is expected to start this Friday, February 12, 2020 beginning with Bong County, which is central of Liberia.
Speaking at regular Tuesday press briefing in Monrovia on February 9, Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Smith Toby said among things expected to be highlighted by the President, Agriculture will be emphasized.
The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary said the tour will be a historic one adding that the President made several stops to speak with his people, host Town hall and palava hut meetings, dedicates and breaks grounds for projects as well as engagements with various Legislative caucuses.
Mr. Toby said the tour is part of the President Weah’s obligation to the people of Liberia and is intended them the opportunity to interact with their leader on what he called a ‘one on one basis’.
The over two-weeks tour is part of the Government of Liberia decentralization initiative, according to Mr. Toby. Bong, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Rivergee, Grand Kru and Maryland are the counties expected to have some time with their leader beginning this Friday, February 12.
