GBARNGA, Liberia- A young Senatorial aspirant has put smiles on the faces of young people through kids gathering in Palala, Kpaai district in the central Bong County, over 104 miles from Monrovia.
The program was held on New Year’s Day with over 150 children.
Many were full of praises as each received a New Year’s Day package filled with undisclosed items.
As usual, kids of Palala move in the streets during festive seasons without proper guidance-thereby exposing them to danger as accidents are least to mention.
Palala, the capital of Kpaai district, is 20 KM away from Gbarnga, Bong’s capital.
According to Mr. Amos D.S. Barbu, the party was triggered by the need of unifying the children on this historical day.
Mr. Barbu feels working with children is joyous, attributing it to a winnable strategy ahead of the 2023 general Elections.
He further said that the kids are the younger generation- thus there is a need to always identify with them.
Amos believes, he has gotten the confidence of the young people of Bong, adding that he remains relentless in the process.
He further encouraged parents to support their children in school, believing it’s the bear rock of any developing nation.
He admonished Bongese to look at him as an alternative in 2023.
For their parts, some of the kids appreciated Mr. Barbu for the program. They appealed for continuation as other kids across the county will welcome similar venture.
They further called on their colleagues to be respectful and stay from trouble if they must represent the future as leaders.
In May of 2021, Amos publicly declared his desire for the Liberian Senate. Amos D. S. Barbu has worked with the Vice President, Madam Jewel Howard Taylor for several years as political advisor. He was also with her while serving as senator of Bong County.
He believes that because of his successful working relationship with her, he will enjoy her confidence (support) in 2023.
Up to press time, not a single response from the Vice President’s office confirming or denying Amos’ assertion of support has been made public.
Amos D. S. Barbu, CEO of the Barbu’s Foundation, thinks that Education, youth and women empowerment through the provision of loans, Agriculture, health care, among others will be his top priority if given the chance to represent Bong County at the Liberian Senate for the next nine (9) years.
Mr. Barbu is among several young folks in Bong County who have declared their intentions for the senatorial seat of Bong County. Getting the seat from hushed and ailing senator Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa is the quest of all of them ahead of 2023 electoral processes.
Many political pundits have maintained that the current senator (Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa) is have betrayed the quest of Bongese as he is believed to be working on his sick bed from the United States of America as he did not attend a single session of the Liberian Senate special sitting in 2021 while he was on sick leave.
Liberians are to go to the polls in October of 2023 to elect 73 representatives, 15 senators with President and Vice President, respectively.
