As Pres. Boakai Also Removes His Commerce Minister

Like he did with the removal of his former Justice Minister, Cllr. Oswald Tweh and former Solicitor General, Cllr. Augustine Fayiah some one week ago, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai today, Friday removed from office Defense Minister, Retired General Geraldine J. George and Commerce Minister, Madalene E. Dagoseh “with immediate effect”.
It was only yesterday, Thursday that outgoing Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh officially handed over the reign of authority as Attorney General of Liberia to his successor, former Solicitor General, Cllr. Betty Lamin-Blamo during an impressive ceremony at the Justice Ministry in Monrovia.
An Executive Mansion press release did not give reasons for their replacement, but the Liberian leader said both relieved ministers are “to be reassigned”
“He cautioned all appointed officials to conduct themselves, both in discharging their duties and otherwise, in a manner that reflects the standards and values of his Administration,” the press release sadid
Former Justice Minister Tweh is now named as acting Defense Minister, while Stephen Yekeson becomes acting Commerce and Industry Minister, among other appointments.

President Boakai Makes New Appointments in Various Government Ministries and Entities

Executive Mansion, Monrovia:-His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, has made new appointments in government, involving the Ministries of National Defense, Commerce & Industry, and Local Government. Appointments were also made at the National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA) and the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC).
The appointments are as follows:
- Ministry of National Defense
Cllr. Oswald Natu Tweh, Acting Minister
Outgoing Minister Geraldine J. George is to be reassigned
- Ministry of Commerce & Industry
Mr. Stephen Marka Yekeson, Jr., Acting Minister
Outgoing Minister Magdalene E. Dagoseh is to be reassigned
III. Ministry of Local Government
Honorable Christopher Ben Bailey, Acting Superintendent, Grand Gedeh County
- National Food Assistance Agency (NFAA)
Mr. Mike Khailelu B. Jabateh, Acting Deputy Director General for Publicity
- Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC)
Mr. Daniel Frank Gould, II, Member of the Board of Commissioners, subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
In another development, President Boakai has, with immediate effect, suspended Mr. Frederick S. Cooper, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, for a period of sixty days without pay. The suspension is for acts incompatible with his status as a public official.
In his communication to Deputy Minister Cooper, President Boakai emphasized that critical importance of discipline, integrity, and responsible conduct in public service.
He cautioned all appointed officials to conduct themselves, both in discharging their duties and otherwise, in a manner that reflects the standards and values of his Administration.
The President reiterated that public office is a position of trust and that officials will be held accountable for conduct that undermines the integrity of the Government or brings public service into disrepute.
