Residents of New Blehgbain Community in Saclepea have rejected culverts brought into the community by District #7 Representative Roger Domah for the renovation of the bridge linking the community with old Blehgbain community.

According to the citizens, some of whom are community leaders, the culverts are broken, removed from a bridge on the Gompa/Saclepea road by Chico, the company constructing the road.

The locals rejected the culverts on grounds that the lifespan of those culverts have reduced and the culverts they said, are cracked.

Speaking to a group of reporters recently in the community, the citizens described the action by Representative Roger Domah as a slap in their faces.

“We have expected that our lawmaker will ask us to produce sand and other materials for the production of new culverts but the broken materials, we don’t want it. We are frustrated in a leader who begged us to vote him. This is a leader who promised to connect our roads, build our palava hut, and provide a market place for our women to sell,” they said.

The group of residents warned that those culverts should not be used for the bridge.

For his part, the community Chairperson, Mr. Samuel Gonyoun, described the cracked culverts as death trap that may damage his citizens in the very short time when installed.

He said as the community is rejecting the materials if there is no one to help connect the communities he will persuade the residents to use the culverts temporarily.

Meanwhile, the office of Rep Roger Domah has termed the action by the citizens as unfortunate and ungrateful.

The Public Relations Officer, R. Cyrus Saye jr. said the community has earlier requested the lawmaker to join them negotiate for the used culverts to link the two communities, which led to the provision of the used culverts.

He said his boss did the negotiation with the community leaders which led the residents to have removed the culverts from Saclepea-Ganta ongoing road to the Blehgbain community on the Bahn-Saclepea highway.
