A Herbalist, 2 Other Rape Suspects Jailed In Gbarpolu County

Reports from Dorkeh-ta, Gbarpolu County say a 42-year-old herbalist identified as Zinnah Jackson has been arrested, investigated and jailed by Bopolu Magisterial Court for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl over the weekend.

Dorkeh-ta is one of the largest Gold mining sites in Gbarpolu County.

According to report, 16-year-old survivor went to the herbalist to heal her stomach pain and herb was boiled and given to her by the herbalist and she was told to come back after several hours.

Aafter few hours, the girl went back to the herbalist for the second treatment, when she was taken in his room, but herbalist Jackson then sexually abused her.

Following his alleged act against her, the 16-year-old rape survivor therefore complained to the community chairperson in the area, prompting herbalist Jackson’s arrest by citizens, who later turned him over to the police.

During police investigation, defendant Jackson admitted committing the crime against the girl.

At the same time, another nine 9-year-old girl has also allegedly been victimized as a result of rape by a 29-year-old man identified as Oscar Diah in Gbelta-korninga Chiefdom in Bopolu District, Gbarpolu County.

This incident happened one week ago, one report says.

It was revealed that the mother of the 9-year-old girl was sick and she was taken to the Chief Jallahlone Medical hospital by her father, leaving her with a neighbor in the community.

The neighbor gave the child a bowl of cook food to take to the house of the 29-year-old rape suspect, who happens to be a commercial motorcyclist in the area.

After she took the food to the defendant’s room, the man pulled her in his room, locked his door and allegedly began  sexually abusing the little girl.

Prior to using his finger, he tried his penis in the 9-year-old-survivor private part. But since it could go, he used his finger to carry out his criminal act.

Currently, the 9-year-old rape survivor is discharging on herself. Based on the seriousness of her condition, the she has been transferred to Monrovia to seek further medical treatment.

The two Defendants named above were charged with rape in line with Chapter 14 section 14:70 of the revised penal law of the Republic of Liberia.

In a related development, a 14-year-old girl has also been raped in Bopolu District, Gbarpolu County.

But details surrounding this case is currently being investigated, while the perpetrator is said to be on the run. Report by Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
