After Twenty Years, Remote Towns In Bong To Be Linked By Bridge Worth US$80K

GBARNGA, Liberia- A ground breaking ceremony has taken for the construction of a modern bridge over the Gwidunah River in Kpaquellie Clan, Zota District in Liberia’s central Bong County worth little over US$80, 000.00.

When constructed, the Gwidunah River Bridge will serve as a gateway for several towns and villages in the area.

The bridge has been in a deplorable condition without any efforts by national government to have it reconditioned for more than twenty years.

Construction works underway

As a result, there have been several reported vehicles and motorbike accident, especially disallowing Ambulance easy access to the Shankpallai clinic.

The ground breaking ceremony was graced by Zota District Commissioner, Paramount Chief, Clan Chiefs, Zoes, women, youths amongst others.

Officially breaking the grounds in the well-attended program last weekend (Saturday February 15, 2020), Liberia Deputy Speaker (Bong County electoral District #2 Representative), Prince Karmue Moye urged the residents of the communities to take the project as theirs.

Deputy Speaker Moye then promised three hundred bags of cement as his initial contributions to the project with a commitment to collect an additional hundred bags from Senator Henrique Flomo Tokpa and fifty bags from Honorable Moima Briggs-Mensah of Salala District.

Hon. Moye further reaffirmed his Committments in extending hands to his colleagues across the country for the livelihood improvement of their constituents.

For his part, Panta and Zota districts Representative, Roberts Flomo Womba termed the bridge project as a dreams come true.

Representative Womba believes when the bridge is completed will enable the people of Kparquellie Clan the opportunity to take their agriculture produce to the nearest market.

He placed the cost of the bridge at little over eighty thousand Unitet State Dollars maintaining that project is his personal initiative with support from friendly partners and individuals.

In separate remarks, residents of Nyensue, Danyea, Bolonta, Manager, Larweh amongst other communities thanks their Lawmakers of for the initiative.

“We have suffered for so long and today witnessing the ground breaking ceremony of the construction of this our bridge, I think we are above to be elaborated from the suffering.

Representative Womba and colleagues have been working in this District building schools, teacher quarters, providing tuation aids to students of the Distict since he was elected. But for this bridge, Womba is indeed a great hero, “Abraham Kollie, a resident of Bolonta added.”
