A group under the banner Drugs Free World Africa in collaboration with Students Against Drugs has given a one-week for President George Weah to immediately take concrete action against harmful substances in Liberia.

The group wants the Liberian leader to dismiss the Director General and Deputy Director of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency or the LDEA Marcus D.  Zehyoue Unit 700 and Lorenzo P. W.  Pelham for allegedly distributing, supporting, facilitating drugs and harmful substances to drugs dealers in the country.

The group alleged that the two officials of the LDEA are in constant habit of protecting drug dealers at the same time taking taps or bribes from drug dealers to various ghettoes across Liberia.

But when contacted, the LDEA boss, Marcus Zehyoue angrily responded by saying that the information was foolish and he didn’t want to talk about it.

According to the anti-drugs group stressed the urgent need for President Weah to have the LDEA boss and his deputy dismiss and conduct investigation ahead of the October 10 elections, noting that over sixty-five percent of the young people will take the streets.

The group also alleged that the LDEA boss Marcus D.  Zehyoue and his deputy Lorenzo P.W. Pelham are on audio recording illegally discussing selling, distributing, supporting, and facilitating drugs and harmful substances to various ghettos. But the audio the group is referring to has not been independently verified.

Speaking at the news conference Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in the Paynesville suburb of Monrovia, the Country Director of Drugs Free World Africa Lahai Michael urged President Weah to immediately set up an independent investigative panel to include the Drugs Free World Africa, Students Against Drugs, and all its partner institutions to conduct a speedy investigation on all cases of dismissed LDEA officers and the alleged leaked audios

Mr. Michael maintains that failure on the part of President Weah to ahead with their recommendations will cause his group to lead a protest march on the principal streets of Monrovia on October 9 2023 at the US Embassy to complain the government of Liberia for not standing to protect and fight against harmful substances that are destroying the youthful population.

“It can be recalled on August 12, 2021, at the LDEA warehouse when this wicked, lackadaisical, and greedy LDEA deputy director stole 30 plates of dangerous hard code substances which were taken by him from the warehouse and supplied to his so many ghettos across Montserrado and Liberia at large,” said the head of the the Drugs Free World Africa group.

He noted that the LDEA Boss illegally dismissed Commander Amos B. K. Moore without due process and allegedly threatened and promised in one of the pieces of evidence in the possession.

“President Weah, let criminals Marcus and Lorenzo be dismissed for constantly using the commanders and other officers to bring to him drugs that are arrested in various counties that should be destroyed in the area arrested,” he further alleged.

The Country Director of Drugs Free World Africa has however, noted that they are ready and prepared to present all of the evidence in court against the two LDEA Bosses at any time when called upon.

“Finally, with the failure of these recommendations, being ahead to by President George M. Weah will lead us with no alternative but to march the principal streets of Monrovia on October 9, 2023, at 10 am at the US Embassy to complain the government of Liberia for not standing to protect and fight against harmful substances that are destroying the youths of this nation,” Mr. Michael concluded.
