Armed Robbery Suspects Involved In The Duala Shoot Out Now In Court

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- Anti-robbery in collaboration with police officers assigned at the Duala market have arrested, investigated, charged and sent to court on multiple charges ranging from Criminal conspiracy, Criminal Facilitation, Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery, as Garmah Never Lomo reports.

In Monrovia’s northwestern commercial district of Duala on November 24, 2021, at least three persons were killed after armed gangs returned fire in a Liberia National Police raid on suspected armed robbers and drug dealers. The police were raiding a ghetto in an area called Kuwait, when they came under attack from the gangsters, with at least one bystander reportedly killed during the shootout.

The twenty suspects sent to court on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 are Emmanuel James, alias Ekwe;  Ernest Hoff, Joseph Mulbah, Mohammed Turay, Mohammed Juma Barry, Benedict McCauley, Issa Lamin, Abraham Kanty, Foday Siafa, Abdullah Samola, Saah Davidand John Teeman.

Others are Melvin Logan, George Potter, Anthony Kollie, Gede Filmore Neal, John Freeman, Success Bangura, Tebell Saytue and Arthur Kumorteh.

The twenty suspects were arrested and duly informed about their constitutional rights and investigated.

They have now been charged and sent to court based upon a complaint filed by victims Mohammed Barry, Mohammed Sheriff and Wurie Jallah. During the attack, victim Mohammed Sheriff sustained wound on his left hand, while the other victims, including Mohammed Sheriff, sustained the loss of the herein mentioned properties including cash.

Meanwhile, the defendants have been remanded at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial.

Raid triggered by residents’ complaints 

That victim Mohammed Barry, Zachariah Sheriff and Wurie Jallah in their complaints alleged that on the 23th of November 2021, about 11;20am, while they were at their respective businesses situated at Dula, Kuwait market selling, they saw group of unidentified men with armed with guns, cutlasses, rocks running after police officers damaged a police vehicle, set tires ablaze and started to break into their shops.

Mr. Mohammed Barry was wounded on his left hand in the process and the armed robbers took away the properties mentioned below.

Fifteen pieces of assorted button phones valued US$150, twelve pieces of standing fans valued at US$300, four pieces of room speakers valued at US$220, Assorted goods and DVD players value yet to be known, Cash 1,700 USD and 98,000 USD..

Mr. Zachariah Sheriff’s properties were stolen including cash.

Seventy-eight I’m f assorted button phones (Itel) Tecno and Scissco valued unknown, forty pieces of assorted Smart phones value unknown and 98,000.00 USD.

Mr. Wurie Jalloh’s properties including cash were stolen.

During police in-depth investigation conducted with suspects, Ernest Hoff, Joseph Mulbah, Mohammed Turay, Mohammed Juma Barry, Benedict McCauley, Issa Lamin, Abraham Kanty, Foday Siafa, Abdullah Samola, Saah David, John Teeman, Emmanuel Joe, Melvin Logan, George Potter, Anthony Kollie, Gede Filmore Neal, John Freeman, Success Bangura, Emmanuel James alias Ekwe, Tebell Saytue and Arthur Kumorteh denied their involvement into the commission of the crimes aggravated assault and Armed robbery but named Solomon, Nija, talk and do, dump-pal fire, Yaha, Emeka, Master P, Joe another Nigeria drug dealer, co, Garuzo and others to be identified as those that led the zogos to attack the officers, placed people under gun point broke into shops and wounded victim Mohammed Sheriff before taking away the above mentioned properties.

The investigation further established that suspects Ernest Hoff, Joseph Mulbah, Mohammed Turay, Mohammed Juma Barry, Benedict McCauley, Issa Lamin, Abraham Kanty, Foday Siafa, Abdullah Samola, Saah David, John Teeman, Peterson Kuku, Emmanuel Joe, Melvin Logan, George Potter, Anthony Kollie, Gede Filmore Neal, John Freeman, Success Bangura, Emmanuel James alias Ekwe along with co-suspects Solomon, Nija, Talk and Do, Dump-pal fire, Yaha, Emeka, Master-P, Joe another Nigerian drug dealer, Co, Gartuzo and others to be identified were armed with single barrel shot guns, cutlasses, knives, scissors and other deadly weapons, attacked the officers and victims wound victim Mohammed Sheriff wounds on his left hand, threatened to harm other victims before making away with the herein mentioned properties including cash.

Police investigation also revealed that Solomon, Nija, Talk and do, dump-pal, Yaha, Emeka, Master P, Joe and another Nigerian drug dealer , Co, Gartuzo (others to be identified) are two notorious drugs contraband dealers. They were based within the Dula and other communities and hired criminals to attack people and take the properties to them.

In view of the above, coupled with the facts and circumstances in this case as well as the retrieval of two single barrel guns, six live single barrels rounds including six empty casing cartridges; the investigation resolved to charge the within names defendants and sent them to court, the Police charge sheet adds.
