At least two persons are feared dead, after a taxi heading from Monrovia en route to Ganta, Nimba County reportedly summersaulted over and plunged into the creek between the Jimmy Barolle Farm and Gbokonnima.
The area is not too far from the central Liberian town of Gbarnga on the road that is officially known as the Madam Suakoko highway.
The injured are being treated at the Phebe Hospital.
Details are still sketchy, but one account has it that the total number of occupants in the taxi marked TX 5409 is seven.
In October last year, the chief of traffic of the Bong County Police Detachment, Augustine Kanneh told the local FrontpageAfrica that since the reconstruction of the Monrovia-Gbarnga highway there have been an upsurge in the number of road accidents.
“Preliminary investigations conducted by the traffic division on the over 40 deaths that have occurred so far have revealed multiple contributory factors,” the local police official said.
