CAPITOL HILL, Monrovia- The CDC has taken on the two top positions of the House of Representatives– Speaker and Deputy Speaker positions, with the Grand Kru County Rep. Cllr. Fonati Koffa of the ruling CDC getting enough votes from across the isles to win this post on Tuesday, January 12, 2021..
Rep. Koffa’s main rival was the opposition CPP Representative from Lofa Counry, Clarence Massaquoi.

The decision was reached after a process of voting in the Chambers of the House of Representatives.
Members of that body on Tuesday, January 12, 2020 elected Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa of Grand Kru County District two to deputize CDC Speaker, Bhofal Chambers for the remaining period in office.
The Grand Kru lawmaker won his opponents with the total of 45 votes out of 68 votes cast.
Out of the total of 68 votes, Representatives Moima B. Mensah received the total of two votes while Lofa County District three lawmaker, Clarence Massaquio got 20 votes.

In his acceptance speech, the Deputy Speaker promised to work in the close connection with the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The Deputy Speaker who was very emotional when he was having his brief statement, gave thanks to his colleagues for trusting in his ability to work as Deputy Speaker of that body.
The just ended election is at the results of the vacancy left by the election of former Deputy Speaker, Prince Moye as Senator of Bong County.
As regards geographical makeup, the win by Rep. Koffa now land four of the most top level positions in the current Liberian government into the hands of officials hailing from southeastern Liberia– President George Weah, House Speaker Bohfal Chambers and Senate President Pro Tempore, Alber Chie.
