GBARNGA, Liberia- The County Health Officer of Bong County, Dr. Jonathan Flomo has confirmed 24 COVID-19 cases in this this central county, which has so far seen at least three deaths so far in the latest spike in the pandemic.
Making the disclosure on Friday June 25, 2021, Dr. Flomo told Journalists that there have been three deaths so far, but patients who have come down with the virus are stable and are responding to treatment at the County’s Treatment Unit in Phebe on the outskirts of Gbarnga.
He said as health workers, they will do all they can to break the chain of transmission but encourage residents in the County to fully abide by the health measures or protocols.
Even though he did not mention the three patients’ history due to undisclosed reasons, the Bong County Health Officer noted that his team members are now doing contact tracing, case finding in the County, in order to work effectively to combat the further spread of the disease.
“Continue to use nose masks or face shields, wash your hands, observe social distancing, and contact health workers whenever you feel symptoms of COVID-19,” the County’s Health Officer said.
Despite the prevailing challenges confronting Liberian from all walks of life, Dr. Flomo wants residents of the county join forces with the Liberian government through the Ministry of Health and partners in combating the further spread of the coronavirus.
At present, few counties in Liberia, especially in Margibi, Monsterrado, Gbarpolu, Lofa have also confirmed cases, as the government is said to be creating awareness
to encourage the general population to abide by the protocols in order to battle the further spread of the virus.
National Statistics
On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the National Public Health of Liberia (NPHIL) reported a total of 109 new confirmed COVID-19 cases bringing the national total to 1040 confirmed cases since the eruption of the third wave of the Delta variant.
In recent days, no new recovery has been reported from this deadly virus.
