Boy, 17, Under Police Probe For Allegedly Murdering Old Man Kru County

A teenage boy is currently facing police probe after beng arrested by in Liberia’s southeastern Grand Kru County for allegedly killing a 72-year-old man in the capital, Barclayville.

Suspect Matthew Nyanti, age 17 allegedly murdered the elderly man identified as Wisdom Tarko Wleh commonly known as “Dat My Area”.

Suspect Matthew Nyant was arrested late last Sunday evening.

The late Tarko is believed to hail from Picnicess, and he served as a private security for the Silver Key Hotel and known as former Police officer.

Grand Kru County Health Team has confirmed that the late Tarko died due to the injury sustained, indicating that he was allegedly hit in the chest which lead to his death.

The tragedy occurred about 1:15 on Sunday Nov. 14, 2021 in Seedee Compound, Barclayville City, Grand Kru County.

According to eye witness account, the perpetrator provoked the late Tarko by calling him My Area that got him angry thereby caused him to lose his temper and Chase the perpetrator but unfortunately he was hit by Matthew Nyanti in the Chest by a piece of wood.

The Police Crime Services Department Director of the Liberia National Police Grand Kru Detachment Maxwell Tarwily disclosed that Coroner jury was setup to examine the body, but report shows that he met his untimely death from the incident.

Tarwily further indicated that the perpetrator allegedly committed the act and escaped, but he later reported himself to some family members, the perpetrator was turned over to the Liberia National Police and is currently in police cell.

For his part, the Acting County Attorney Chris Teah has described the incident as regrettable and sad and urged citizens to be calmed as he gave them assurance that the alleged perpetrator will face the full weight of the law.
