(Last Updated On: )

Liberia’s Comptroller General and Secretary-General of the ruling CDC, Janga A. Kowo has called on the people of Lofa County to support the CDC-led government.

Lofa is the home town of the former ruling Unity Party (UP) Presidential candidate, Joseph Nymah Boakai, who won that county with a wide margin in the 2017 election.

He said their struggle for a better life is aligned to the struggle of President Weah growing up in slum community and striving to living a meaningful life.

Mr. Kowo told the 97th Graduation ceremony of the St. Augustine High School in Bolahun Lofa County that President Weah wants to see the total development of regions of the Liberian Society.

The senior government financial official used the occasion   to inform the people of Lofa County that government   is committed to the development of all facets of the society.

KOWO said President Weah has placed premium on education and to help alleviate the sufferings of the people. He said the decision of the government to settle the West African Exam fees for all students sitting the test demonstrates the government commitment to zero in on the issue of education while acknowledging the long way to go in the process.

“The elections are over and president Weah believes that all Liberians are one people. I want to encourage people of Lofa County to give all the support needed to President George Weah.  The President does not believe in discriminating his own people and this is why he has formed a government that is all inclusive.”

Comptroller-General told a jam-packed hall in the oldest academic town in Northern Liberia that people from Lofa County are holding key positions  in the CDC led government including himself, Labor Minister Moses Kollie, Deputy Defense Minister Ernest Varfee, Assistant Commerce Minister Morris Siryon  among others.

Mr. Kowo urged Lofa Citizens to unite and refrain from lingering power struggle and disunity among themselves. He said disunity has ripple effects on the development of the county including the education, infrastructure and all other areas that might make the county competitive.

He said everyone is a leader but all cannot lead at a particular time.   He pledged the government unflinching support to the people of Lofa county and encouraged citizens to find their way into government’s pro-poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity.

The ruling CDC Secretary General encouraged students not to let their parents down. Kowo said they should now see their graduation as a first step in a long journey towards prosperity and development.
