EXCITING NEWS — $100 MILLION AGRICULTURE BOOST!

The Mainland Group from China has announced a USD 100 MILLION investment to transform Liberia’s agriculture sector!

Speaking at a live press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture, CEO Zhu Chen revealed plans to:

Build cassava and rice processing plants by Sept/Oct 2025 in Fuamah, Bong County Establish cocoa and coffee processing facilities to add value locally Develop a sugar refinery with sugarcane plantations

Create warehouses and logistics hubs near ports as well as some shipping lines

These projects aim to boost farmers’ incomes by 20–30%, engage 150,000+ farmers over the next five years, and reduce Liberia’s reliance on imported food.

Agriculture Minister.

Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah welcomed the move, noting it will solve the “offtaking” challenge by bringing processing closer to farmers. He also announced that the Chinese Government will be getting an additional 16 farming machines—adding to the initial 288 units—for mechanization centers, expected by October.

The Mainland Group, which operates several factories in Africa, including Cote d’Ivoire, where they have five factories producing 450,000 tons of rubber a year, and other investments across Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, and Mozambique, is now bringing its agro-industrial expertise to Liberia to create jobs, expand markets, and strengthen food security.
