As Coach Anthony Jambah Names The Final 25

MONROVIA, Liberia — Nimba County captain and ASK Sisters I player Joan Smith has been named captain of District #15 ahead of the inaugural Montserrado County Inter-District League.
The announcement was made on Sunday, September 13, 2026 by the team’s technical staff after several days of preparations for District #15’s opening fixture, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16. The venue for the match is yet to be announced.
District #15 Head Coach Anthony Jambah, a former Rivercess and Grand Bassa County kickball coach, confirmed the squad and captaincy decision during a telephone interview with our reporter.
Smith enters the competition following an outstanding 2026 season. She was part of the Nimba County team that finished third in the 2026 National County Sports Meet and also featured prominently in the 2026 SKD LKF Knockout Championship.
Her performances during the previous league season earned her the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) 2026 Most Valuable Player Award, making her the latest recipient of the prestigious individual honor. She follows former National County Sports Meet Winner Patience Sackie, who previously won the award while representing Rivercess and Grand Bassa.
Smith has also been the subject of speculation regarding her future participation in the National County Sports Meet. With Lofa and Grand Bassa among the counties expected to challenge Nimba, the upcoming competition could potentially be Smith’s final appearance in the tournament.
She previously indicated during interviews surrounding last year’s competition and the 2026 LKF SKD First Division League season that she was considering bidding farewell to the National County Sports Meet.
For District #15, Smith will be deputized by Agnes S. Yarbah of Girls of Aries.
Meanwhile, former National County Sports Meet winner, highest home-run hitter, and Margibi County player Marcken Gibson of Amazon KC has been appointed team speaker.
District #15 has been drawn into Group A, alongside District #2, District #5, District #8, and District #11.

District #11 Makes History
Elsewhere in the competition, District #11 currently sits at the top of the table after making history as the first district to record a victory in the inaugural Montserrado County Inter-District League.
District #11 defeated District #8 6–3 in the opening fixture of the tournament on Saturday, September 12, at the Jacob Town Sports Field.
District #15 Technical Team
The District #15 technical team is headed by Michael Jappah, who serves as Technical Director.
Anthony Jambah is the Head Coach, while Lovo Opato Mulbah Jr. serves as Deputy Coach.
With the tournament now underway, District #15 will rely on its experienced squad and technical team as it seeks to make a strong impression in Group A and challenge for success in the historic inaugural competition.
