Ordinary Liberian citizens continue to speak out on ongoing political issues in their country, with a concerned Liberian in Sinoe County warning the two parties in the November 7 runoff presidential election against “inflammatory remarks” that he says could tear the Country apart.
Jefferson Jerboe Sr, a resident of Sinoe County, says recent comments made by the Chairman of the ruling Unity Party and the Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change respectively are counter-productive to peace and stability across Liberia.
Other Liberians speaking on the various local radio talk shows have expressed similar comments, with fingers even being pointed at certain elements in the Liberian media who have been spewing invectives and openly taking sides with rival political parties and candidates in the 2017 elections.
In an interview with Journalists recently, Jerboe says “Liberians are wearied of war and are not prepared to return to violence and untold suffering in the country.”
He is calling on the two main political parties to avoid comments that have the propensity of creating conflict in this post war nation.
According to Jerboe, ‘’Liberians are not prepare to go back to war, if any of them has problems, you should legal means by going to the Supreme Court and avoid comments that would take the country back ward’’.
‘’I want to use this time to called on all Liberians especially the two political parties to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner to in order to sustain the peace and democracy that the country now enjoys,’’ the Liberian citizen notes.
Jerboe is meanwhile encouraging officials of the county particularly the newly elected representatives to inspire their supporters and the entire county to vote Ambassador Joseph Boakai for what he calls growth and development sack in Liberia.
He is however commending citizens for peacefully conducting theselves in the first round of elections.
The Sinoe resident is therefore challenging his compatriots to continue in a peaceful manner before during and after the planned run-off election between the UP and the CDC.
