Vocal radio talk show host and the leader of the Council of Patriots (COP), Mr. Henry Costa returned home to Liberia on Thursday, December 19, 2019, just eleven days to his group’s “Weah step down” protest.

But there were clashes between COP supporters and armed officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP).

Costa’s well-publicized return home, had been preceded by contradictory accounts coming from government on plan or no plan to arrest him.

A large group of jubilant supporters made their way to the Roberts International Airport (RIA) outside Monrovia to welcome him and escort to Monrovia the COP leader, considered “a thorn in the CDC government’s flesh”.

The COP say they will remain protesting on the streets from December 30, 2019 until President Weah leaves office due to bad governance, corruption and other acts that has led the country into serious economic crisis.

Recently, Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene Farhgon told the MICAT weekly press conference that an arrest warrant was out for Costa who would face arrest upon returning home for allegedly engaged in treasonous acts and threatening the peace and stability of Liberia.

But Deputy Minister Farghon’s pronouncement was quickly debunked by Justice Minister, Cllr. Musa Dean who said there was no plan to arrest Costa.

Following his arrival from the US, where he is studying, the vocal talk show host whose Roots FM radio has been shut down by government for weeks, stood in an open top vehicle escorted by a fleet of cars and buses filled with supporters who made their way to Monrovia.
