Reports from Liberia’s northeastern Nimba County say the remains of an 11-year-old  girl who was allegedly raped and murdered last January has been abandoned by the Ministry of Justice at a local funeral home known as Heaven Give in Scalepea.

In an interview with the Heaven Give Funeral home administrator, Mr. Saye M. Lakpor by via mobile phone said the body of victim was taken at his funeral home for two weeks by police authority in the county name of carrying investigation.

The administrator of the Heaven Give funeral home disclosed that at the time the body of deceased was taken at his funeral home, within four months, the Ministry of Justice bill was over USD 2,000. But since the body has been abandoned by the Ministry of Justice, their bill has now gone to 14 thousand United States dollars, which they have called on the Ministry of Justice to pay their bill and remove their body but to no avail.

According to Mr. Lakpor, they have made effort in the county calling on the county authorities to bill their bill and remove their body because the the deceased remains has stayed longer time in their funeral home.

It can be recalled that January 15, 2019 an 11-year-old child was raped and murdered by a man, age 71 identified as Joshua Karnue at a nearby creek where the child has gone to wash early in the morning.

The child was allegedly raped and murdered behind a termite hill to a nearby creek between Scalepea and Bahn, after which he went buried the victim in a mud leaving her foot outside.

The victim was said to be a resident of District two Nimba County who has come to visit her aunty in Scalepea when this sad incident occurred.

However, five persons were initially arrested after which four were set free as a result of their innocence leaving defendant Karnue alone in the custody of police.

On the day of incident, defendant Joshua Karnue was seen coming from the direction where the 11-year-old has gone to wash.

Defendant Karnue was arrested, investigated and charged with rape and murder. But after his arrest he told police investigators that he cannot function, meaning that he has lost his manhood.

After the defendant made such comment he was taken to Monrovia for medical checkup where he was diagnosed that his manhood is active and can function. By Garmah Never Lomo
